The Gabonese Agency for Space Studies and Observations (AGEOS), established in 2010, plays a crucial role in formulating and executing Gabon's space policy. AGEOS also leads regional space initiatives, particularly in Earth observation and environmental monitoring, such as the Global Monitoring for Environment and Security (GMES) project. Furthermore, AGEOS is working on developing Gabon’s first satellite in collaboration with Japan and Kyushu Institute of Technology, focusing on environmental monitoring and coastline preservation
