The Gabonese Agency for Space Studies and Observations (AGEOS), established in 2010, plays a crucial role in formulating and executing Gabon's space policy. It aims to build national capacity through space infrastructure to support thesafety and well-being of the national community. AGEOS also leads regional space initiatives, particularly in Earth observation and environmental monitoring, such as the Global Monitoring for Environment and Security (GMES) project. This project helps collect and disseminate data for forest monitoring and land-use assessments across Central Africa. Furthermore, AGEOS is working on developing Gabon’s first satellite in collaboration with Japan and Kyushu Institute of Technology, focusing on environmental monitoring and coastline preservation​

Mission Statement: To contribute to the implementation of the government’s policy in the collection, analysis, and dissemination of space observation data. This data supports the sustainable management of the environment, natural resources, land use, and territorial planning. AGEOS also promotes research and innovation in space science to benefit the country’s development.
